Education

The National Space Club - Huntsville has identified and elevated Education as a key focus area. In addition to important events, including the Von Braun Memorial Dinner and Leadership Luncheon, a number of educational programs are sponsored. Several scholarships are presented to deserving students each year in the North Alabama area, including students from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Alabama A&M University, and Calhoun Community College. The awards are presented based upon academic excellence and target students pursuing a degree in science or engineering.

In addition, the NSC co-sponsors (with AATA) the annual AstroBowl which provides a forum for elementary, middle, and high school students to compete against surrounding schools in an exciting event which elevates academic awareness for aerospace history, science facts, and current aerospace technology.

Finally, the club sponsors a number of important local activities including Frontiers Day, STEDTRAIN, Citizens for Space Exploration, and the U.S. Space and Rocket Center's Space Camp and Space Academy.
