This is an exciting time for the National Space Club – Huntsville and we want to encourage you to become a member or renew your membership for 2013 now! We are holding our 2013 professional memberships dues at $25/year ($15 for educators and free for students), which is a great value! This membership gives you access to our yearly events including Membership Appreciation events (free to all members) and our Annual Leadership Luncheon (featuring leaders from DoD and NASA). Other special programs are also in the works and we welcome your ideas for speakers or programs, too.
One great benefit of being a NSC member is the $150 discount you’ll receive to attend the 6th Annual Wernher von Braun Symposium on October 7-9! And you should also mark your calendars for our 25th Annual Dr. Wernher von Braun Memorial Celebration dinner, which will be held October 9 at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration, U.S. Space & Rocket Center. More details and registration information for these events will be posted here soon.
The primary purpose of the National Space Club – Huntsville is to fund educational outreach. Your dues and participation in NSC events and activities helps to educate and encourage the future engineers and scientists that are needed by the aerospace industry, academia and government. NSC funds $13,000 annually in college scholarships at multiple North Alabama institutions for aerospace, engineering and science scholars. We also provide more than $20,000 to support “in our backyard” activities, including U.S. Space Camp, robotics team competitions, Sci-Quest Hands-on Science Center, Alabama Math, Science & Technology Education Coalition, the NASA Great Moonbuggy Race and a science and technology road show for under-served schools in Alabama. And in a partnership with Pratt Whitney, we sponsor NSC Day at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center as educational outreach for 500 area fourth and fifth grade students.
