The Annual Dr. Wernher von Braun Memorial Dinner honors individuals through the Dr. Wernher von Braun Space Flight Trophy, Astronautics Engineer Award, Media Award, Community Service Award and the Dr. Wernher von Braun Scholarships.

The 22th Annual Dr. Wernher von Braun Memorial Celebration will be held on Wednesday, October 27, 2010 at the Davidson Center for Space Exploration.

Established in 1988, the Celebration honors the memory of this great space pioneer by recognizing individuals and groups who personify his ideals and vision and have made significant achievements in advancing space exploration and/or have contributed to America's leadership in rocketry and astronautics.

This year's recipients include:

  • Von Braun Space Flight Trophy - Marshall Space Flight Center, in recognition of 50 years of accomplishments in space exploration and research
  • Astronautics Engineer Award - X-37B Orbital Test Vehicle Project Team
  • Community Service Award - Dave Christensen, Aerospace Consultant
  • Media Award - Frank Morring, Jr, Senior Editor, Space, AVIATION WEEK.

The Celebration is annually attended by NASA Headquarters personnel, Marshall Space Flight Center personnel; top-level officials from the U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command; U. S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command; Missile Defense Agency; local community leaders, and important business leaders.

A Reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Gallery of the Davidson Center for Space Exploration. At 7:00 p.m. the Celebration continues with dinner, awards presentation, special guest speaker, and concludes with a Dessert Reception.
